Review of Scientific Instruments welcomes a new Associate Editor, Xinghua Lu.
The Editor is happy to announce that Prof. Xinghua Lu took up duties as a new Associate Editor on May 1, 2012. He is Professor and Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory for Surface Physics at the Institute of Physics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing and directs a research group there. He obtained his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Physics at Tsinghua University in Beijing, and his Ph.D. in Condensed Matter Physics at the University of California in Berkeley with Prof. M. F. Crommie working on molecular nanostructures with scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and scanning tunneling spectroscopy (STS). He was a Postdoctoral Associate at Harvard with Profs. J. Golovchenko and D. Branton working on STM/STS studies of DNA electronic structures. His current research is focused on molecular dynamics with ultrafast laser assisted STM, single spin detection and control, and DNA manipulation in nanopore. His experience on STM/STS will complement the technical background of the editors for the benefit of authors and readers of RSI.
