According to journal metrics just released by Thomson Reuters, Review of Scientific Instruments (RSI) is the most highly cited journal in Instruments & Instrumentation. It is also among the five most highly cited journals in Applied Physics.
#1 in Total Citations
In 2008, Thomson Reuters recorded 19,770 citations of articles published in RSI; more than any of the other 56 journals tracked in the Instruments and Instrumentation category.
Impact Factor
The Impact Factor for RSI grew to 1.738 in 2008; a one-year increase of 25.6%.
Cited Half-Life
Another impressive metric is RSI’s Cited Half-Life, which grew to 7.9 years and highlights the long-term value and relevancy of research published in the journal.
Four journals published by the American Institute of Physics—RSI, Applied Physics Letters, Journal of Applied Physics, and Low Temperature Physics—account for 44% of the combined total of 2008 citations for the Applied Physics category, while accounting for only 28% of total articles published.
